We create healthier chemistry between people, the things they love, and the planet. We also create this bi-weekly newsletter — curated with interesting and inspiring stories relevant to anyone interested in making our industries and our economies more bioharmonious.

Evolved By Nature is proud to be a part of Fashionnovation’s 3rd Worldwide Talks at New York Fashion Week this year! Dr. Greg Altman will be speaking on the panel, “Fashion Is Textiles and Chemicals via Technologies Shaping Sustainability Efforts” at 11:20 AM EDT on September 10, 2020. Please join us at this virtual event for an illuminating discussion about how the role textile finishing chemicals play within the fashion industry and how we can mobilize to make these chemistries more sustainable.

Pseudoscientific products that claim to help treat or even cure coronavirus are everywhere on the internet. In tandem, the FDA continues to crack down on products proving more harmful than helpful. Feeding off the fear of COVID-19, many companies tout misleading health claims for their products such as “immune-boosting” or “antiviral.” Yet, little do consumers know that these tactics symbolize a long-standing issue within product development that can negatively impact the health of people and the planet. Recent articles on the long-term harmful impacts of BPA, pesticides, endocrine disruptors, and more, display an ugly truth about the malleability of safety claims associated with our everyday products. The gray area is vast, and COVID-washing is only giving us a glimpse.

Skincare proves itself as the main pandemic go-to within the overall beauty industry. Serums, masks, and at-home spa tools thrive due to the uptick in popular health and wellness marketing. Consumers are saying good-bye to makeup that ruled the last decade, and hello to “clean beauty.” But how clean is the beauty industry right now? Is “clean” within beauty and fashion a misnomer? This month, articles have highlighted that consumers are not backing down from their demands for more sustainable and inclusive brands. Although many brands may be eager to hop on the bandwagon, their journey toward being genuinely sustainable is long and deeply tangled with other industries that need improvement.
