We create healthier chemistry between people, the things they love, and the planet. We also create this bi-weekly newsletter — curated with interesting and inspiring stories relevant to anyone interested in making our industries and our economies more bioharmonious.

Authority Magazine recently featured our Co-Founder and COO, Dr. Rebecca Lacouture, as part of a series on female founders shaking up their industries. Beck has been through many ups and downs to create, scale and manage a business dedicated to creating healthier chemistry between people, the things they love and the planet. Based on her experience, she has two main pieces of advice for innovators eager to change the world for the better: 1) fail fast and 2) always remember to think. Check out her full interview to see why these two steps are crucial for success.
  • Authority Magazine: Dr. Rebecca Lacouture: “Fail fast”
At times, chemistry can get political. A push-pull pattern has emerged between corporate interest and academia regarding the regulation of harmful chemicals. Confusion and mistrust is a byproduct commonly felt by non-experts. When honest discussions about chemical safety are missing, health and planetary harm tend to occur. Thankfully, some are taking well-researched risks seriously. Governmental institutions, especially in the EU and California, are adopting regulations and setting precedents to limit the use of harmful chemicals such as parabens, PFAS, neonicotinoid pesticides, and more. Some of these chemical policy wins have been related to climate action efforts, linking petrochemicals to a broader pollution problem. Right now, government action on chemical regulation may seem sparse. But the long journey ahead can be paved with a multifaceted effort created by academics, policy-makers, and green chemistry innovators.

Within various industries capturing the eco-conscious and diverse zeitgeist of today, sustainability frameworks and reports are bountiful. Actionable steps toward a competitive, biocompatible, circular economy seem to be on everyone’s to-do list. But who exactly creates these frameworks? And when implemented, how do these sustainability goals impact people? Recent media coverage on circularity highlights the importance of including various voices to help create holistic change while mitigating societal externalities and understanding ecological limits. It is a call for straying away from the uber-conceptual by bringing in more perspectives to help optimize the most positive impact for all people while implementing corporate and public sustainability goals.
